The most common rally length in tennis = 1 Shot.
The shortest rally happens the most.
A missed return of serve is the culprit.
At the start of 2016, I have been a speaker at quite a few USPTA, PTR coaching symposiums, and other coach education weekends.
About half way through the presentation, I come to the mode.
I initially explain that the mode is a math term, meaning the most common, or most abundant.
Then I ask all the coaches in the room – “what is the mode in tennis?”
I give them a minute to discuss their thoughts with the coach sitting next to them, and then I ask for their guesses.
