Hey everyone,
It was a fun and positive start to the year in Brisbane. It’s my second time I have been there and I really enjoyed it; good food, some good cricket (although the Aussies will leave that part out!) and I had some friends and family who were there as well. Louis and I were back to sharing a room which is always a fun time.
Played some good matches and got through to the semi finals to play Andy Roddick. The schedule was a little different, as we played the quarters on the Thursday and then had Friday off. That gave me Friday to practice on center court (which I hadn’t played any matches on) and get use to the court. Playing on center court isn’t really any different, but the backdrops are so big that gives it a different feel sometimes. I thought I played some good parts against Roddick but I played some loose games that gave him an early advantage in the first and third set. Credit to him though, he served really well and made it through to another final in Brisbane.
Louis and I flew to Auckland yesterday (Sunday) and we are staying with a very good friend of mine who I went to university with. I had today off and went over and hit to get use to the new playing conditions. Thats the life of a professional tennis player, quick adaption is key! I am playing first up tomorrow at 11 against my doubles partner in Australia, Victor Hanescu. He is a very good player with a lot of experience so I am going to have to be playing well to make it through.
Its my first time in New Zealand and so far its great. Looking forward to a good week!
Till next time,
Kevin
