G’day,
The 25 Golden Rules of Singles Strategy is the ideal “entry-level ” strategy course to improve the patterns of play in your game.
Rule #24 is called First Volley Behind, and it’s all about having the right strategy for your first volley when you come to the net. First volleys are going to be divided into camps:
- You have closed in well after the approach shot and are inside the service line. Changing directions and volleying to the open court is a good option.
- You are typically around the service line, and you can’t put the ball away to the open court from that far back. Best to volley back behind the opponent.
The following video explains exactly what to do in both scenarios, and what shot you should look for next. This is the video you will find in Rule #24.
