G’day,
A big day on Saturday with Na Li and Serena Williams both winning their semi-final matches here in Istanbul.
Li was very impressive to take down Kvitova in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 and she is the master of getting off to flying starts this tournament. Li went up two breaks of serve within a few minutes and even thought she relaxes too much sometimes, she still gets the job done. Li won the baseline match-ups, taking Kvitova out of her lefty patterns and making her adjust to her power game.
The Williams match was about as bizarre of an encounter as I have ever seen in my life. Serena looked totally fine in the first few minutes and then she looked like a total zombie for the rest of the match. She complained of “hitting the wall” after a long season and she had terrible body language. Somehow, some way, she still got the job done.
Click below on the two stories I did on the matches for the WTA and some Hawk-Eye graphics from the match.

Looking forward to a great final this afternoon! Li will win if Serena has no gas left in the tank.
